Information About Me - AKA Em's Brag Rag

MY NAME:	Emily Ruth Dalton Bryner, Lady Emerald Twilight, Em, Emmie, and various other appellations.
WHERE I'M FROM:	Earth...usually. You could call me a southern belle, a Yankee gal, a California girl, or a citizen of the world. I have lived in at least 12 houses in 10 cities in 6 states in 2 countries. I've got relatives in Ireland and France, and, by marriage, Switzerland - and friends in still more places. Myself, I was born in Charlotte, in the beautiful state of North Carolina, and have since lived in Kernersville, NC; Hendersonville, TN (in the pretty, friendly, diversely musical Nashville area); Scottsville, KY (Bowling Green area); New Holland, PA (Yes, the place where they make New Holland Ford tractors, in Lancaster County Amish country); Hamburg, PA (where the famed Reading Railroad of Carnegie and Rockefeller days - and the Monopoly board - terminates); Grand Terrace, CA (among the citrus groves in the Riverside area, inland from Los Angeles); Roorkee, Uttar Pradesh, India (not far from the Hindu holy city of Haridwar, and close to the temperate jungles of the Himalayan foothills). I recently moved to Loma Linda, in Southern California, from the San Francisco Bay Area, where I'd been off-and-on since I was in the middle of high school. I miss it. The things one does for love....

MY HUSBAND:	Marcus Alan Bryner, M.D. Allow me to be sappy for a moment. My interesting, clever, talented, handsome prince charming is truly a "Renaissance man" who proves that chivalry still exists. MY FAMILY:	H. Mark Dalton is my daddy. He has pursued all sorts of professions including (but not limited to) church pastoring, teaching, carpentery, prison chaplaincy, automobile restoration, and counseling. My mom is Marilee (Serns) Dalton, who is currently employed as an elementary school principal. She also has her R.N. and training in exercise physiology, and has done counseling with my dad. My folks would probably both say that their professions don't define them. They are multitalented individuals. The world is not devoid of heroes! My fabulous friend and sister Julie is a talented actress, photographer, culinary artist, and more, with a facinating brain. Persephone (AKA "Sephie") is my gorgeous and sophisticated cat. She is definitely a precocious tomboy, as cats go, goofy and unpredictable.
INTERESTS:	Actually, since I aspire to be a human encyclopedia, I am at least interested in just about everything, but some of the things I'm rather passionate about shall be hereby delineated... I like trying things, nibbling things, climbing things, and doing things involving H2O (as a liquid, a solid, or any other state). I'm also fond of thinking (anywhere about anything). I make art and music, and I write. (Incidentally, my aspirations also include being a human thesaurus, and having my poetry studied in the textbooks of high school and college students. I have an exceptional affinity for words and most things literary). I am a benefactress of all the arts, especially the innovative independent dramatic sort. I like to concoct gourmet beverages and foods and philosophize while sipping or eating them. I love to move my body. I greatly fancy travel and absorbing all sorts of cultures. Since my little old megalomaniac Camry, Gabe, was murdered in April, '03, we actually got a nice, rugged Tacoma pick-up. It takes me on breath-snatching adventures regularly. I fly airplanes, as well. I try to fill my world with beauty, peace, honesty, laughter, and danger. Nature is my medicine.
LANGUAGES:	English, quite obviously, et aussi, le francais (mais, malheureusement, je fais beaucoup de fautes). Marcus lehrnt mich langsam Deutsch. I know basic food- and commerce-related phrases in Hindi and Spanish as well. That I learn as much in as many languages as possible is a corollary to the fact that I enjoy experiencing diverse cultures. I also speak HTML and coded this whole site without the aid of any page layout or web composer programs.
FAVORITES:	My favorite color is green...whodathunkit, huh? My favorite time of day is, um, twilight, morning or evening. I like wolves, eagles, and cats of all sizes, too. I will eventually post lists of favorite links, music, books, food, cities, etc.
